ANJA hosts biennial events for nature journallers to come together. We learn from each other, share knowledge, develop skills and hear from experts. We form friendships and connections with our nature journalling community.

Nature Journalling Weekend Retreat, Tasmania

Join us for 3 nights and 2 days of learning about and connecting with nature in a beautiful Tasmanian location.

    Explore and connect with Tasmania's spectacular natural environment and unique biodiversity through the practice of nature journalling.
    Experience nature-based activities, workshops, mindfulness and talks over two full days, including free time to enjoy the natural space.

    Themes

    • Nature journalling practices: Drawing, water colour, ink, coloured pencils, written reflections, poetry, word play.
    • Connection: Connecting with nature, place and others for wellbeing.
    • Learning: Natural history, identification, field observations.

  • Our venue

    We are fortunate to have exclusive use of the beautiful Steele's Island Retreat in Carlton, Southern Tasmania. Just 25 minutes’ drive from Hobart Airport.

    Our retreat will be catered by Tasmanian local (Suzie Donkers), well known for her nourishing meals and extensive use of local produce. 

    Check in from 3pm Friday 8 May. Check out by 9am Monday 11 May. Ask us about car pooling.

Retreat Packages

  • Package 1: Days only

    Suitable for those who have somewhere else to stay overnight and intend to join our activities. Join us for all activities and day-time catering. Choose from optional extras for breakfasts and/or dinners. $210

    Suitable for those with their own caravan, campervans, mobile home or tent. Join us for all activities and day-time catering. Choose from optional extras for breakfasts and/or dinners. $360

    Suitable for those who want the full experience with shared accommodation. If you prefer an exclusive room for a single or couple, these will be made available later as an optional extra, subject to availability. Express your interest at the time of registering. $590

Please attend our welcome dinner on Friday night, which is an optional extra unless you choose the all-inclusive residential package. Dinners are available as optional extras for everyone else.
